Good News for Regional Victoria

The Victorian Government has introduced payroll tax cuts to benefit regional Victoria in this year’s budget. Regional businesses will now pay 3.65% tax instead of 4.85%. However, to quality your business must employ at least 85% “regional employees”. The Government estimates that some 4,000 Victorian businesses will be paying less in payroll tax.

The Victorian Government also forecast a change in the tax threshold. From 1 July 2017 the threshold will increase from $575,000 to $625,000 and from the 1 July 2018 the threshold will increase again to $650,000.
