Some Good News for Western Australian Businesses

20 February 2017
As part of 2017 election campaign the Barnett Government has pledged to lift the current threshold for payroll tax from $850,000 to $900,000 effective from the 1 January 2018. The State election will be held on the 11 March 2017.

The news has been welcomed by the business sector of WA and it was no coincidence the Premier Colin Barnett made the announcement in Perth at a Chamber of Commerce and Industry function.

The last increase in WA’s tax threshold was in the 2016-2017 State Budget when the threshold was increased from $800,000 to $850,000 effective from 1 July 2016. At the time it was reported the increase in threshold would benefit over 11,000 businesses.
