In a statement issued on 5 November, the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, announced a Jobs Plus Program which would provide payroll tax relief and other support for businesses that create at least 30 new net jobs in the state.

Part of the state’s 2020/21 Budget, the $250 million program is designed to encourage interstate and international businesses to relocate and/or expand their jobs footprint in NSW.

Under the program, businesses that create at least 30 new net jobs will receive support which includes payroll tax relief for up to 4 years for every new job that is created where a business has created at least 30 new net jobs.

Other support includes assistance with planning, subsidised training programs, enabling infrastructure and access to subsidised government spaces and accommodation.

In addition to creating new jobs for the state, the Treasurer, Dominic Perrottet said the program would reduce the costs to business of establishing in NSW. The program will commence on 15 December 2020 and run through until 30 June 2022.

Businesses that are interested in participating in the program should refer to the details in regard to eligibility and conditions after the Treasure brings down the budget and the program is documented.
